The commissioner of record can refund an eligible paid season in the app within 7 days of payment. Billing shows the available amount and the deadline. Setup itself is free. If payments have not opened, there is no activation charge to refund.
This guide explains the screens. The full Refund Policy has the terms, limits and exceptions.
1. Refund a season
- Sign in and open your league's Front Office → Billing → Refund season.
- Choose a reason or skip it. You do not need to give a reason.
- You may see an optional offer that fits the reason. Choose it only if you want it.
- Review what happens, then choose Refund with the amount shown.
You can also choose No thanks, refund my… on the reason or offer screen. The amount follows your payment: for example, $20, $15 with the switching offer, or the amount left after half back. Nobody needs to approve an eligible in-app refund.
The refund goes to the payment method that paid. If another member chipped in, that member gets the money. OVRWire sends the refund request to Stripe when you confirm. A pending or failed provider request can take longer; Billing shows its status and any next step. Your bank controls when the money appears. See Stripe's refund timing guidance.
2. The optional offers
- Fix box scores: turn on review for every game or enter a game by hand.
- Guided setup: return to the setup checklist.
- Move the payment to a league credit: an eligible payment made by the commissioner can become a credit for a later season of the same league. The season goes private. The credit does not expire and cannot move to another league. It returns no money to the card at that point. See the Refund Policy, section 1, for the credit's refund rules.
- Keep the season live and get half back: an eligible payment can return half to the payer while the season stays live. The amount left can still be refunded before the original deadline. You cannot take both half back and the credit.
Billing offers only the choices available for that payment. If someone else chipped in, use a refund to return the money to that payer.
3. What happens after a full refund
The season goes private and its public pages come down. New results, confirmations, Discord posts and screenshot pickup for that season stop. Pending games and deadlines freeze. Games, stats, rosters and settings stay.
The commissioner keeps access, and signed-in members can read the league. Existing Discord roles and channels stay until removed. Earlier completed seasons stay public. Reactivating a refunded season needs a new activation; that second payment is not refundable in the app.
4. Why a refund may be blocked
| Billing says | What to check |
|---|---|
| Only an active paid season can be refunded | The season must have an active payment or eligible credit activation. An unpaid, already refunded or free season has no active charge to return. |
| The 7-day refund window closed | Check Billing's payment date and refund deadline. |
| Only the league's commissioner can refund | Sign in as the commissioner of record. Co-commissioners and the payer cannot issue this refund unless they are that commissioner. |
| Pause or finish the Draft first, then refund | Check the official Draft in Front Office. If it is paused and Billing still blocks the refund, send a private billing request. |
| This league was refunded, so this payment isn't refundable | The limit is one full in-app refund per league in 365 days. |
| You've used your refunds for this year | The limit is two full in-app refunds per commissioner across their leagues in 365 days. |
A refund already in progress shows its status instead of starting another refund. Refresh Billing to check it. Half back does not count as a full refund; refunding the remainder does.
5. Duplicate charges and billing problems
For a duplicate charge, an OVRWire fault, or a refund that still has not gone through, use Report a problem → Private request → A charge or billing fault. Include the league, the date and the payment or refund reference if you have it. Never send a full card number. A private request is never posted publicly.
The Refund Policy, section 6, explains duplicate charges and OVRWire faults after the usual window. If you cannot sign in, use the contact methods in the Terms. Questions about a card, statement or receipt can also go to the payment support linked from your receipt.
OVRWire activation refunds do not cover dues, entry fees or prizes your league handles. Ask your league about those.
