Questions

Common questions

What is OVRWire?

OVRWire is a website and Discord bot for running an NBA 2K league. Members enter and check the result; the other team reviews it. Confirmed results update standings and stats. OVRWire is independent and isn't affiliated with 2K, the NBA or Discord.

How do I run an NBA 2K Pro-Am league on Discord?

On OVRWire, name your league, say how many teams, then sign in with Discord and create it. Connect your Discord server: tap Add OVRWire to my server, approve it in Discord, check the plan, then tap Looks good. After each game, players can post screenshots in the chosen box-score channel. Members enter and check the result on the game page, and the other team reviews it.

Can I run a competitive NBA 2K27 crew league on OVRWire?

Yes. OVRWire is built for 5v5 Pro-Am and crew leagues that run on Discord, and for the NBA 2K27 5v5 box score. Pick Community for light rules or Competitive for stricter ones. Change available settings in the Front Office. Some choices lock when the league goes live or the season starts; others lock after play begins.

How do teams and players join a 2K league on OVRWire?

Every team gets its own link: players open it, sign in with Discord and enter their gamertag. A captain link claims a team, and the league link adds players to the league's available players list. Everyone must be 18 or older.

How do I make a schedule for a 2K league?

On OVRWire, pick your league nights and game times. OVRWire makes a balanced schedule into those slots. Check it, then publish it.

Is there an OVRWire app?

OVRWire is a website built for phones. There's nothing to download. Players can look things up in Discord with /standings, /schedule and /me.

Is there a Discord bot for NBA 2K box scores?

Yes. Once the OVRWire bot is connected to the league's Discord server, players post screenshots in the chosen box-score channel. OVRWire reads it and checks that the numbers add up. In the regular season, a clean, unedited read that its poster checked is final right away, unless a warning needs a look or the commissioner reviews every game. The other team can ask for a review until the deadline shown; the score counts meanwhile. Typed or edited numbers need the other team or the commissioner. If OVRWire can't read a screenshot, anyone on the team can type the numbers in.

Can AI read NBA 2K box score screenshots?

On OVRWire, two different AI models read each screenshot: one reads the whole box score, and a second one checks the totals and the score. The reader can make mistakes: it fills in the numbers, and people confirm them. Console screenshots read best: the GAME STATS screen, with both TOTAL rows and the scoreboard in view.

How do teams confirm NBA 2K league box scores?

For typed or edited numbers, the other team's captain or co-captain confirms the box score or taps Something's wrong before the deadline shown on the game. For a checked screenshot that's already final, they can ask for a review until the time shown; the score still counts. They can confirm on the website or with the buttons OVRWire sends in Discord. In the regular season, a clean read that its poster checked is final right away, unless a warning needs a look or your commissioner reviews every game. The other team can still ask the commissioner for a review until the time shown on the game, and the score counts while it's checked. In the playoffs, a clean checked read can become final at the deadline shown on the game if nobody asks for a review.

How do I set up a Discord server for a 2K league?

Most leagues already have a server: tap Add OVRWire to my server, approve it in Discord, check the plan, then tap Looks good. The plan reuses your channels and team roles and adds only what's missing. OVRWire never renames, moves, deletes or changes anything it didn't create.

How does OVRWire track stats and standings for a 2K league?

OVRWire doesn't connect to your 2K account; it works from the box-score screenshot. Only final games count, and standings, leaders, team pages and player pages update from them. Every league has its own web address, like ovrwire.com/night-owls-league.

How do you stop fake box scores in a 2K league?

OVRWire checks the math on every box score: each player's points match their shots, makes never beat attempts, the players add up to the TOTAL row, and the quarters add up to the final. Numbers someone typed in or changed never become final through silence: the other team confirms them, or the commissioner reviews the game. Every decision and correction goes in the league log with a reason.

How does OVRWire handle forfeits and lag-outs?

On OVRWire, a team that shows up can claim a forfeit when the game offers that action. Check its conditions and the deadline to say it's wrong. Your league's rules determine the timing. OVRWire never invents points for a forfeit: a no-show is a win and a loss with no score. For lag-outs and restarts, your league's commissioner settles disputes and corrections, in public.

Do players get their own stats page and season history?

On OVRWire, player pages update from final games, and each player's gamertag, exactly as it shows in 2K, is their public name in the league. Once a season goes live, its pages are public, and completed seasons stay public as a free archive. If a player's gamertag is already in the league, OVRWire asks "Is this you?" so their games stay linked to them.

How much does OVRWire cost?

OVRWire costs $20 per league-season, tax included. One price for the whole league, however many teams: about $1.67 a team in a 12-team league. It isn't a subscription, and nothing renews by itself. Switching from another site? Your first season is $15 instead of $20. Check "We're switching from another site" before it goes live. Once per league.

Is OVRWire free?

Set up your league for free. Add teams and rosters, then invite your captains. Your league stays private. With pre-made rosters, your first 3 games count in private before you pay. In a draft league, the live draft comes with going live, so you pay before draft night. Practice drafts are free, up to 2 rounds. Going live costs $20 per league-season, tax included, with no per-team fees.

What changes when my league goes live?

On OVRWire, going live makes your league's pages public, every game counts, standings and stats publish, and OVRWire posts to your Discord, with no per-team or per-game fees. To go live, a league needs at least 2 teams. Discord is recommended. Captains can submit box scores on the web without a connected server.

How long does one $20 season last?

On OVRWire, one $20 covers 12 weeks of regular season for NBA 2K27, from the first processed game, plus 2 extra weeks to finish games. OVRWire warns you 2 weeks before week 12 ends, and a regular season past the 2 extra weeks needs another $20. There are no add-ons.

Can I get a refund?

On OVRWire, the commissioner can refund the season's $20 in the app within 7 days, with no reason needed and nobody to email. You may see up to 3 short screens first, and every one has a plain "No thanks, refund my $20" button. After a refund the season goes private and every game, stat and roster stays, with a limit of 1 refund per league and 2 per commissioner in any 365 days.

Who pays for the league on OVRWire?

Anyone in the league can chip in and pay, and paying doesn't give them any extra say. The payer must be 18 or older, and OVRWire never sees or stores your card number. OVRWire never holds league money: dues, entry fees and prizes stay between your league and its members.

I'm switching from another league site. What comes with me?

When you switch to OVRWire from another site, your teams and rosters come with you, free: paste them from Google Sheets or Excel, or upload a CSV, then check the preview. Past seasons, standings and stats don't import yet. Switching from another site? Your first season is $15 instead of $20. Check "We're switching from another site" before it goes live. Once per league.

Is OVRWire safe? What can it see in my Discord?

When you sign in with Discord, OVRWire gets your Discord ID, username, display name and avatar, not your email, password, servers, friends or messages. In your server, the OVRWire bot reads new messages only in the box-score channel your league picks and in the game threads it starts, and it keeps the screenshots, not the text. It doesn't read any other channel, or anything posted before your league connected.

What happens to box-score screenshots? Are they used to train AI?

On OVRWire, screenshots are read by Google's Gemini API on its free tier, with Cloudflare Workers AI as the backup. Google may use what it reads to improve its products; the Privacy Policy explains. OVRWire removes location and other hidden data from every image. Full-size screenshots are deleted 30 days after the game is final, and a smaller copy stays with the game as its record.

Is there a Discord bot for NBA 2K league standings?

Yes. With OVRWire, finals post in #scores, the standings stay up to date in one message in #standings, and every game gets its own thread. Players can look things up with /standings, /schedule and /me.

Does the OVRWire bot work with the other bots in my server?

Yes: the OVRWire bot works alongside the other bots in your server. OVRWire never asks for Administrator, Manage Server or Manage Messages, and it never pings @everyone. "Remove everything OVRWire added" takes out only what OVRWire made.

What happens if I miss my pick in a draft?

It depends on the setting your commissioner chose for when the clock expires. With Auto-pick, OVRWire picks for your team from your pick list first, then by ratings from last season's stats, and shows you who it took and why. Miss two clocks in a row and auto-pick stays on for your later picks until you switch it off. With Wait for staff, nothing is picked and the draft waits for the commissioner.

What is a pick list in the draft room?

Your pick list is your shortlist of players, in the order you want them. Add players with + in the room. Auto-pick checks the list first, and when you're on the clock each player on it has a one-tap Draft button.

Can I draft from my phone?

Yes. The draft room is built for phones: build a pick list, tap Draft when you're on the clock and confirm your pick. If your league connects the draft to Discord, the ping when you go on the clock has a Draft button too.

What is Draft TV?

Draft TV is a watch-only big-screen view of a live draft: the team on the clock, the clock, every pick and what comes next. Open it with TV mode in the draft room or Watch Draft TV on your league page. Players who hide their name show as Hidden player.

Why did Draft TV stop updating?

Draft TV only updates while its page is showing. A background tab, a minimized window or a locked screen pauses it until you bring it back. Keep Draft TV in its own browser window, in front, and use Start broadcast so the screen stays awake.

Can I try a draft before draft night?

Yes. Anyone can re-draft SCSL Season 1 in the real draft room at ovrwire.com/try-draft with no sign-in, and nothing counts. Commissioners can also run a free practice draft with their own league from Draft setup, for up to 2 rounds.

What if OVRWire can't read my screenshot?

Your game isn't stuck. Post a sharper screenshot of the whole GAME STATS screen, or type the numbers in. Typed or edited numbers need the other team or the commissioner before the game counts.

What does "Today's free reading is used up" mean?

OVRWire's automatic reading runs on a free daily allowance, and that day's is gone. Your screenshot is saved and OVRWire reads it after the daily reset, around the time the message shows in your league's time zone. You don't have to post it again, or you can type the numbers in now. If a screenshot is still waiting 48 hours after it was posted, OVRWire stops waiting and asks you to type the numbers in.

What is the difference between a review and a correction?

A review is someone asking the commissioner to check a score. A correction asks the commissioner to change a score that is already final. A score that isn't final yet stays out of the standings while it is under review. A final score keeps counting until the commissioner decides or corrects it.

Who decides when someone says a score is wrong?

A commissioner who isn't on either team decides, and the decision and its reason go in the league log. If no commissioner outside the two teams can decide, both teams get 48 hours to agree, then captains from other teams vote.

How do I renew my season?

You can renew as soon as your 12 weeks end: choose Renew on the card in your Front Office (or in Billing), and it opens the payment page. The new 12 weeks start when you pay. A renewal is $20, tax included, like any season. If you don't renew, earlier results stay public and new results wait until you do.

How do I hand my league to someone else?

Make them a co-commissioner first in Front Office → More → Co-commissioners. Then choose Make commissioner next to their name and send them the link that appears. You stay commissioner until they open the link and accept.

I signed in with the wrong Discord account. What do I do?

Open your account menu, choose Use a different Discord account, then pick the right account on Discord's screen. OVRWire knows you by your Discord account, not your email, so a different account looks like a different person.

Why isn't the OVRWire bot posting in my Discord?

A league that isn't live yet keeps finals and standings out of Discord until it goes live. If your league is live, ask your commissioner to open Front Office → Discord. It shows what needs attention.

Can I hide my name on public pages?

Yes. In Account, turn on Hide my name publicly. Public pages, cards and recaps then show Hidden player with your team and position. Signed-in league members still see your name, and your stats don't change.

Can I download or delete my data?

Yes. Open your account menu, choose Account, and use Download my data for a file of your account, profile, leagues, requests and payment records. Delete my account sends a request to a person at OVRWire, who runs the deletion.

How do I contact OVRWire?

Use Contact us at the end of any Help page, or Report a problem in the site menu. Choose the kind of message, say what happened and send it. League questions go to your commissioner. Private requests about your data, your account or a charge are never posted publicly.
